Hello
Had to change the bottom bracket on my bike twice recently due to water ingress into the bearings. The sealing arrangement is very poor on Shimano BBs IMO. It is the press fit type BB91 fitted to my Trek Fuel Ex9.

Does anyone know of an alternative press fit BB I could use? Don't want to change the crankset just the BB. Not sure if the FSA press fit BB is compatible. I've seen KCNC BBs on the web but the guy in the shop wasn't sure they'd fit.

My last bike had the external bearings and after 2 failed Shimano BBs I fitted a Hope. The plastic seal on them worked and had no more trouble.

Anyone help????

Shimano is about the only option for a Shimano chainset.

Most Fsa chainsets spindles are tapered so they won't work. Shimano spindles are 24mm on both ends.

I see that this post is 11 months old.Does anyone know if an alternative for BB91 has appeared in the past year?

The recent maiden riding trip on my Zesty was a fortnight in my home country of Oz. Only 2 days of the trip were wet, yet the bottom bracket is already thoroughly knackered. Not really keen on replacing the Shimano BB after every moist scribble on my new French friend. HELP

Yep, you will find plenty of options discussed here: http://lapierreownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1332

My choice (by a country mile) is the Enduro Fork Seals one. (You have to order them from the US though).

Just answered this one for my self. Ordered one of these:

Still a plastic insert but this shouldn't matter if the seals and bearings are as good as they claim.

Also found equivilent items in aluminium from Superstar (sold out) and XXF

If the dude killed a Shimano press-fit BB in two days, I'd give a Superstar one, what, ten minutes? ๐Ÿ˜‰
