[Closed] Shimano 9 speed triple chainset with 10 speed rear mech/cassette - will it work?

Anyone tried a Shimano front end (chainset/mech) with a rear 10 speed setup? I have a new xt 10 speed groupset, which I will run 1x10 most of the time, but got a big trip to France next month and wondering if i can get away with my 9speed xtr M970 up front.

Means I can sell the new XT chainset on whilst its BNIB.

Surely someone has given it a whirl?
