The Shimano Nexus 3 speed hub on my commuter has started feeling a bit rough. It's not too noticable when I'm actually riding, but if I turn the pedals whilst stationary it feels & sounds quite "rumbly" (if that's a real word). It's much like a worn bottom bracket but that seems fine.
On the bike stand, the same feel & sound is there turning the pedals in either direction. It freewheels perfectly so I assume the bearings are ok. The teeth on the hub & crank seem ok too. I have had to take up the slack in the chain a few times, could it simply be a worn chain, or is there something more expensive going on?
Your experience would be appreciated.
