[#5929482]

Just had a new 105 Group set delivered and checking through the contents it seems to be missing The downtube stoppers. Its a full group and included cables and outers and the part is mentioned in the installation document but I Dont know if they are considered part of the group? Anybody bought a group set recently that can comment before I call the shop tomorrow?

Dont think there are many frames around now that have or use down tube gear bosses ? .... plenty of old frames had them ..
Hence not included maybe ?

They generally come with cables and outers so if it came with them it should come with the stoppers too.

Do you need them?

Very few frames need them these days, I'm not surprised you didn't get any.

Probably come in the boxed shifters but if you bought bagged after market they're probably not included... Not many frames use these now

Its the bit that bolts to the frame. They are going on my old 90's Zullu Columbus SL frame.

You'll need them if you're replacing down tube shifters. If your not, you don't and probably never will. I've got about 4 pairs in my toolbox. Should throw all but one set out but my hoarding problem wont let me ๐Ÿ™

Yeah downtube shifters originally. Do modern frames have stops on them then? Where do the adjusters go? My summer road bike is an early 00's trek 5500oclv which has bolt on shimanno stops also so I'm not up to speed on modern setups.

You'll need them then. Yes modern bikes will have some sort of cable stop on the down tube.

Well I've sent a message off to the shop so we'll see if they are supposed to be included.

I've never seen them in a full boxed set of Shimano shifters.

I've not seen them come with shifters for a couple of years at least. They still supply the same instructions though. Certainly haven't come in any of the tiagra, sora, 105 or ultegra shifters that I've fitted since I opened my shop 15 months ago. All uk boxed stock. Hope that helps.
