looking for a nice quiet route to edale from wharncliffe. can any sheffield locals give me a hand .

I'd ride the steel valley trail through Stocksbridge , midhopestones, over to Langsett . Over Cutgate, round ladybower, with a choice of climbs to get upto hope cross, and down Jaggers.
All this assuming you want a quiet off road mtb route.
