[#450788]

Whilst riding to the start of last weeks Rivington ride hosted by Lowey my rear brake pads decided to come apart leaving me with a ride home to change bikes ๐Ÿ‘ฟ
Yesterday was out on long ride with wife, had just rode down the rocky decent from the TV mast and what should happen the ****ing new pads i put in this week decided to fall apart ๐Ÿ‘ฟ 1 ride and they come apart I was ****ing livid, I can't remember the internet shop where i purchased them as it is over a year ago. I should have known that buying in bulk was not a good thing ๐Ÿ™ I still had 2 sets but they have gone into the bin, its not worth the risk.

Because the one time i ever tried non-genuine manufactures pad was with SSC and they ALL fell apart!

That was Juicy 5 and Hope Mini Mono. IME you get what you pay for. It's the mixed reviews of SSC that amaze me. Some get on fine, others share my experiences.

Others and myself have all had problems with SSC pads coming off the backing. But been using the ones from www.discobrakes.com and no complaints.
Cheaper than SSC + in loads of different compound flavours too.

Ive recently bought some of the pricier ones from disco, looking forward to trying them out.

Recently had some Imperial pads fall off their baking during removal for servicing. Interestingly MTBDirect from whom they were originally bought no longer stock any aftermarket pads....

they were probably stored in a cupboard of incorrect temperature next to a hammer and in the vicinity of a rock. That'll do it every time

I'm another superstar fan, the last few batches I've had of them have worked well, never fqailed, and have lasted as long as original avids...
no complaints here

Bedding in will make no difference to the friction material falling off the backing - that is purely a manufacturing fault

Faultering SSC fan here - after my magura pads came off their backing I bought some SSC and although remaining on their backing they seem to be wearing at a rate of knots despite bedding properly and rarely being used. Might be time to try disco just for test purposes.

Cheaper than SSC + in loads of different compound flavours too.

Only if you buy in more than 2 sets, 1 pair of their cheapest is currently ~8.50 inc postage, SSC is 6.49.

Yes pook I always wear a helmet, it has saved my skull on numerous occasions ๐Ÿ˜€
As I said in my original post I am not sure where I bought them as it was quite a while ago. I have had others fail before from the same lot I bought but they have always been at the end of their life, so I just presumed I had run them too long ๐Ÿ˜•
SSC does ring a bell as I have used them in the past, but I can't be sure so I am not going to blame them YET.
All I know is the packet they came in has small stickers inside them.

You said you got them a year ago - I bet their superstars, the dodgy batch. Brant will replace them.

Not used anythign other than Goodridge recently.
BUT Was doing a job on my mates bike. Both pads onhis rear brake separated from their friction material.
On both sides the backing plates had some corrosion where the friction material sticks to the plate, so it looks like hte corrosion has "pushed" the friction material away from the palte. This is the second set hes had this happen.
Perhaps the backing plates need to made from a more corrosion resistant material?
Oh and both sets were from Superstar, so have advised him to send them back for refund / replacement.
