I was out yesterday in the snow, had my trusty 5 10s on with a pair of cool max thermal socks and some sock guy ones over the top yet my feet were still frozen almost to the point of numbness. Anyone recommend a warm sock, sealskins maybe??? Dont wanna ditch the 5 10s as footwear cos they glue me to the bike!!!

Sealskinz are OK, but even riding mostly just in the NW of England by the end of a ride on a cold day my toes will have suffered - and they are a bit bulkier than normal socks, so if your current shoes fit you well wearing Sealskinz underneath will squeeze yuor toes more and this worsens the feeling of cold.

Obviously some of it depends on you as an individualo, some people just feel the cold more regardless of what they wear.

I was out in the Peaks in the snow a while back with 5.10 impacts over a pair of seal skins. Worked well for thew day. Was perhaps getting a little chilly towards the end of 4 hours. Don't think it would have worked if the shoes had been wet though.

There is a company that makes motorcycle kit with heating elements in it powered from small battery packs. However, while it warms one part, it just makes you notice what the new coldest bit is!

It looks more sexy to remove your socks before your trousers when going to bed I'm told.

Assuming you've got somebody to look sexy for! In this weather i'd tend to leave em on, i'm afflicted with foot-out-of-duvet syndrome.

I find two thin pairs of socks better than a single thick pair but I just accept that in the winter your feet/fingers will get cold, your ears will freeze & you'll get 'Fergie nose' ๐Ÿ˜‰

In all seriousness I'd recommend a pair of Defeet Wolie Bolie socks. Get large as they seem to come up a bit small. I can testify that even when wet are comfortable and warm.

Thin silk socks with thick wool socks on top are my choice for serious cold. Down in the south it's never really cold enough for that though so it's usually silk + normal socks. Something like these:

Sadly, not very sexy ๐Ÿ˜•

If you're throwing wet into the equation, maybe silk socks and sealskins, but I've never tried that.

I wear sealskinz with another pair of socks underneath. Always toasty warm, even in race shoes.

lovely -15 today.
I find 1000mile blister free socks, and a pair of thin cotton socks does the trick.

Merino liner socks and Woolie Boolies over them.
