Is there a step by step guide anywhere? I'm going to give it a go using my new Arch EX rims, yellow rim tapes and old Nobby Nics. From reading around I think it goes:
1) Pop valve in
2) Put tyre on, useing middle channel
3) Inflate tyre to seat
4) Deflate and remove valve core
5) Add sealant and reinflate
6) Go ride
Am I right? If not where am I wrong?
Ta!
pretty much that.
or 3 - sealant in tyre, inflate, shake, leave - tends to work with a stans rim and most tyres ime
there's plenty of details and videos on the stans site
8.5mm drill bit and a cheap tube Sorted ๐
Cheers Clubber, will give it a go over the weekend!
The videos on the Notubes site are pretty good, Stan himself shows you what's what.
So the basic jist, watch Stan do his stuff on his website and ignore GW?
Also add -
2a) plenty of soapy water around bead of rim and tyre
2b) stretch inner tube over the tyre to pull bead in tight
your list of steps is fine, but (3) might expand somewhat.
Things to try if you can't seat it (in this order):
a) soapy water brushed around the beads
b) put a tube in, pump it up, then remove the tube but only unseat one bead of the tyre (the other one will stay tight and sealed, so you've only got half the seating to do when you pump again)
c) put a tube in and leave over night to help shape the tyre
d) combination of all of the above
e) ghetto compressor (search for it)
f) ghetto compressor with (d)
e) real compressor
f) real compressor with (d)
And definitely ignore GW. DO NOT DRILL STANS RIMS!

And if you're struggling to get it to inflate, pop a tube in and pump up to 40psi to seat the tyre and then carefully remove one side of the tyre and remove the tube, then reinflate to test it will go up, use suds if needed. It's actually much easier to pop a little section of tyre out and pour a couple of cup loads of stans in than mess around clogging up the valve.
Good luck, i will be replacing a racing ralph with a nobby nic later so fingers crossed it goes as easily as last time
(missed the above post lol)
Just watch stan's video its great
