Has anyone bought the CK hub tool, is it necessary to keep these beauties running sweet, or am I better off spending the cash on servicing at my LBS? I've got Hope hubs in most of my wheels which I service with ease, but these things are a whole new challenge!
You don't need the tool for a quick service. Just a couple of 5mm hex keys will do it. You're better off with CK ringdrive lube to do it properly.
It takes about 10 minutes to do a rear; lots of step by step vids and manuals on the CK website.
There's little to go wrong if you're not pulling the bearings out, so you might as well have a crack.
Thanks ScottChegg - freewheel grabbed a little this morning so I'll get some of the CK lube and give it some TLC.
If the freehub is dragging, its probably the the needle roller bearing in the freehub body needing a service, and that job is easier with the tools.
