Hi,
I'm in the process of stripping and cleaning my Superstar Superleggera rear hub; I've removed the two hub cartridge bearings fine, and have the Freehub on its own with the outermost bearing removed, but can't figure out how to get the final bearing out. It seems to me that I need to remove the machined metal component which holds the pawls from the ally "body" of the freehub, but I unfortunately don't know how to do this. Can anyone offer me any insight into this problem?
Cheers
Just checked a thread on Bikeradar for you, seems it depends on the age of the hub involved. Some will need sending back as they require a £50 tool that's no longer being sold, but will come back modified so it's no longer required, Google Superstar Superlegera instructions for a more in depth explanation.
Cheers for the reply, I've checked out that thread and that isn't the problem I'm having, I can get to the bearing behind the engagement ring fine. The bearing I'm having trouble with is the one actually in the freehub, it's inside the cassette carrier. Any ideas?
Cheers
Is it like a Hope ,where, after removing the outer bearing in the freewheel the inner bearing is removed in the same direction passing through the outer bearings race and not withdrawn on the pawl side.
