After reading a few threads/horrorstories i have been scared into thinking about some lite armor for my week in Morzine, im going trail riding not DH and im not prone to spillage but wondered if there is any point in those padded base layers, 661 sub gear type?
Anyone?

I use one of these (older version) has spine protection and stays in place. Not sure what the fabric one does really.
Had mine for 6+years worn for DH alps and silly trails.
Bit warm but good compromise on price and movement.
I use the 661 subgear stuff - has helped a few times with falls and elbows fending off trees - where the pads spread out the shock over a bigger region.
The vest is like a compression vest, so makes you feel cooler when you put it on, in the opposite manner to, say, a HH lifa.
The sternum pad seems superflous or possibly not as effective as the other pads and its main function seems to be to make you hot, so I cut them out.
Some of the Endura shirts seem to be custom cut to accomodate the pads, for some reason.
Got the 661 subgear. It's light and comfy, easy to wear all day. The sizing is a bit funny, tight body long arms, but it is stretchy. The padding feels like it'll help as long as it isn't a big off
