Running a tad short on time with this, basically im posting a bike (worth about £600) too late for courier collection today etc.

Last option seems to be Royal Mail standard parcel - £500 insurance on it just in case. Not bothered about how long it takes to get there as im away out of the country tomorrow for a while, just need it to actually get to it's destination (Southampton) OK.

Anyone used it ? Don't want the bike arriving bashed to hell etc...

Pack it well and it'll probably be Ok. I've sent some biggish stuff in the past, childs buggy being the biggest, and they all got there OK.

There is a maximum size that they will take. Something odd like the length plus circumference must not exceed 3metres. Check their website for accurate info. Some frames struggle to fit inside this with forks fitted.
