Just found out a bike I sold on eBay has a seized postthe usual cromo frame alu post...... ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Anyone got any tips for a quick removal? Ideally need to do it tonight as the courier comes to collect tomorrow!

Ps. I don't have a lump hammer or a blowtorch....

Thanks in advance

J

Soak it with GT85 or WD40 or preferably Plus Gas.

Wait a while.

Prepare some boiling water.

Pour it on the frame.

Go to work.

Fingers crossed.

Plenty of GT85 or same and a boiled kettle poured over a rag wrapped round the seat tube

Try a strong alkali substance, it worked on a very stuck post over on Retrobike that refused to budge with the usual methods of Coke or Plus gas

Failing the above, hacksaw the bugger out.

Thing with heating the frame is that aluminium will expand quicker than steel.

Do you need to save the post?
If not crush it one way in a vice then rotate 90 deg and crush it the other. Will just pop out then.

Actaully, prior to that hold it very tightly in a bench vice and rotate the frame, best after soaking in above substances.

Then freeze it in this case. Any dry ice?

Tried the boiling kettle thing, no joy..... May be able to get an early trip to the lbs tomorrow am.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, it's appreciated.

Is it spinning in the frame or stuck solid ?
Did this years ago on a BMX, drilled a big hole through the post, put a bar through the hole & got it turning. Then got a mate to stand on the chain-stays while I twisted the post upwards.
