Any ideas? Need to change the cleats on my winter shoes but one of the bolts is seized on each shoe. They're Allen heads, so they've just rounded when I tried to undo them.
Tried Plusgas and cutting a slot in one of them but to no avail, so any suggestions greatly appreciated... My feet are getting cold!
drill the heads off so you can get the cleats off the remains and then a mole grip around the stubs of the bolts.
Dremmel a big slot in them and use a big screwdriver.
Failing that, drill down the center of the bolt and you should have enough thread to hold the next one in.
And next time use lots and lots of grease!
drill time. just try to stop before you go straight through the shoe
especially[u] if they are gortex lined
Hmmm... I suppose the Mole grip method would be best if it works, but if it fails, it'll be nigh-on impossible to drill them...
Definitely gonna use copper grease in future.
Thanks!
drilling out will be fine, even if they have no heads - hold the thigns firmly and use a bench drill.
The drilled heads and molegrips method worked... Thanks a lot fellas, the toots will be warm this weekend!
