just wondering,
On the basis that a lot of bikes are being stolen and have go somewhere. What do people do to avoid buying stolen bits or stolen bikes?
Or do people just turn a blind eye when they see a bargain?
don't buy anything from ebay or any other auction/second hand type site.
use crc/wiggle and such for all gear, or known folk off here.
Not much you can do. I'd avoid anything that looked dodgy, but if someone posted a well written advert, for something you wanted, at a good price, there's not that much you can do.
I do tend to wait for CRC sales these days rather than buy 2nd hand, but that's mainly because I found 2nd hand stuff is rarely better value than new when you factor in the reduced life left in it. £200 for some 2 year old forks with ~2 years of life left, or £400 for new ones with 4 years, and a warrenty, and shiny new-nesss.
When you see a true bargain you should question it, people don't generally give stuff away.
I would buy from Ebay, but I would want to see a lot of feedback history and probably go and collect the item to satisfy myself it's not dodgy.
I'd also buy stuff from here if the seller has a decent history of forum posting, and not just a fly by night classifieds user.
