i know this has possibly been done to death but here goes. 15s rider, van nicholas zion frame, raceface dues xc post and kcnc quick release clamp. Due to slippage the frame has basicly eaten the post :(. whats the best way to avoid this happening on the next one?

well first thing - have you got the clamp tight enough ?

Secondly to stop slippage i use some Tacx Friction Paste - also available from Pace. It's a paste you apply to the seatpost and when clamped it increases grip so parts dont slip etc. Very good stuff.

This used to happen on my Marin HT. I tried a bolt through seat clamp instead of a qr and it stopped.

You could try a different brand of seatpost as the one you have could be slightly undersize, or you could buy some friction paste as used for carbon seatposts and bars, and or another brand of seatclamp.

Hope you get it sorted!

I use the paste on carbon parts and it works a treat. It could be a tollerance issue on your post (or maybe the frame, but hopefully not). I find Thomson posts are great for not slipping due to the ribbed finish.

A Thompson post was the cause of my slippage problems ๐Ÿ™

In the end a combination of a Salsa QR lever on a Brand X clamp has solved it.

I'd say use the Pace blue paste, and bin the KCNC clamp. I had trouble getting mine tight, and then when undoing it a couple of weeks ago there was a loud crack and the lug under the nut sheared off the band.
