I have a 30.9 seat post on my bike but really want a hope seat QR but the closest 1 they do is a 30.0, anybody know if I can get away with a slightly smaller clamp?
I'd say no, might be able to splay it out a bit but not by that much. You caoul always take some emery cloth to it to make it fit.
Seat clamp size goes off the external diameter of the seat tube, not the size of the seat post itself (which is the internal diameter of the seat tube). The old clamp might have it printed on somewhere. It's probably 34.9, but best check with a ruler... 🙂

You don't size by seatpost. the size depends on the seat tube of the frame - at a guess, you probably want a 34.9 clamp for that size post/seat tube.
What kind of frame is it?
Seems a bit obvious now thinking about it! Thanks for the advice guys, it's a yeti 575 btw
