Hi there - I'm planning to do the South Downs Way this weekend (June 30) with some mates.
It should be dry as a bone at this time of a year, but this isn't a normal year. Anyone got any idea of current conditions?
Many thanks.
Im interested in this too, doing it on Friday, which seems to look fairly wet at the moment.
On Saturday, It was sticky in places towards the Winchester end, but fine from QECP to Eastbourne. Should be ok if it doesn't rain from now to Saturday. ๐
Should be fine, assume you're riding Winchester to Eastbourne, wind will be in your favour.
Thanks for all the info. A great help.
Anyone local to the SDW been out on it last night or today? I'm about to pack up the car and drive 200+ miles and I'm wondering if I should be taking mudguards or not.
Any local up-to-date info very much appreciated.
Thanks.
It varies. Even when one section is high and dry, when you next dip into a valley you can get mired! You'll just have to take it as it comes, be prepared to slip and slide and let the bike go.
Rode it all yesterday - pissed with rain for the 1st 2 hours to QE park & then the sun came out, nice trail conditions. Kebab in Eastbourne was monumental.
