I know this is a topic that keep popping back up, but has any one gone from a Bel Air 2.0 to either the Bel Air and Bell Air Rail?

Spec suggest "The Bel-Air uses a Mid-Density PU foam, while both the SL and 2.0 adopt the lightest EVA Foam available and all are strategically designed with a Rear-Rise which helps rotate the pelvis forward and can provide extra support for one who likes to use the saddle's Optimal Rideable Area (ORA). The Bel-Air and the SL incorporate a 3/4 Cut design for perennial relief and the 2.0 uses the Peri-Canal – a full length channel to eliminate pressures to the soft-tissue. The entire Bel-Air series features a Nose Platform, providing greater surface area control and power transfer, while also designed with a Down Curved Nose for moving forward on saddle on seated climbs or in an aggressive forward riding position."

which is a decent explanation of the differences, but has any Bel Air 2.0 owner gone to the std Bel Air or Rail version, and been comfortable?

I've got Bel Airs on my 3 bikes, they're all different & they're all dead comfy, I have no idea which models any of them are.

HTH but it probably won't.

I tried to go the other way round from a Bel Air to a Bel Air 2.0 and I found the 2.0 horribly uncomfortable. It’s lighter and harder and just didn’t suit my behind at all. The padding in the Bel Air is nicer for me - bit deeper cushioning and the saddle as a whole is bigger.

So you might get on with it as it maybe more comfy or you might find it like riding on a sofa.

I must be unique in liking the Bel air 2.0

Given that, you'd think I'd have no trouble finding one, new or used, but it seems not.

I've had a couple of originals over the years. Very comfy and good value for money but a tad retro looking compared to the latest offerings. I remember the V.2.0 getting mixed reviews on release, so I passed on that one.

The v 3.0 seems to be universally liked and the one to get for modern geo bikes but the better lux alloy is impossible to find in the UK at the moment although you can track down the cheaper (and heavier) steel rail version.

I'm late to this party, being a long term Gobi user, I was given a worn out BA 2.0, as I 'd heard they were good and wanted to try one.

See I've always heard the opposite.. maybe I'll give a 3.0 a go then.
Cheers for the replies, it sounds like I can't go to wrong with any of them..

I haven't ridden my bike with a 2.0 on for over a year. In the meantime I've ridden an original Bel Air. When I sat on the 2.0 for the first time in ages I was surprised by how uncomfy it was. Even my Charge Spoon is comfier which i didn't expect. Horses for courses tho, innit.
