Hi all
I was looking for a carbon framed 29er for XC riding but I ended up picking up a standard 2014 Scott Scale 960 for £160, which I couldn’t resist at that price. It’s in perfect working order but I’m looking to shed some weight, but I’m a weight weenie newbie.
First things first are the wheels. The standards are Syncros XC39. Are these particularly heavy and has anyone got any good value (affordable) recommendations for lighter ones? I’d probably be looking out on the 2nd hand market to keep the cost down.
..........or are they reasonable and I just need to go tubeless??
I’ll be using this bike as a rolling project. I’d imagine once I’m happy with the light weight components, I’ll eventually look for a carbon frame.
Step one to weight weenie projects - strip it down and weigh individual components before even considering changing anything.
