Looking at cycle scheme bikes and weighing up the scandal 29er and Kaffenback.
To take advantage i would have to sell my road bike - if i slapped some CX tyres on the Scandal would it be [i]that[/i] different to the kaffenback for commuting/winter road rides position wise?

Yes. One's a mountain bike & one's a road bike.

kaffenback isn't strictly a road bike tho is it!! Discs - ability to run cx tyres, more relaxed

Scandal V2 doesn't have rack mounts. Worth remembering.
