I'm building a Scandal 29er and trying to work out which front mech is the best given the tight clearances.

What has anyone else used?

Pics?

Scandals run lovely short chainstays, but front mechs can catch on tyres.
Have a look at this - Pix hosted here: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/northmalvern/ScandalFrontMechAlteration

This is for conventional XTR dual pull (same principle applies to conventional Deore DP too) - There's not enough room for the top swing cage when I tried.
Looks drastic, but works a charm.

Alternatively the new 2009 front mechs work great with lots of clearance.

I've got an XT mech which I bought specifically for Scandal 29er I built up last Autumn. Frame has moved on now, but I've got the XT mech if you're interested only used for 2 rides.
