RE: http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/avid-juicy-7-rotors

In hindsight I should have realised it was too good to be true but was foolishly complacent and practiced too much trust.

I've been on STW (mainly buying*) for 10 years and apart from a couple of minor (but always amicably resolved) differing opinions regarding condition of parts, all has been great. However, on this occasion I made a mistake and was ripped of for the sum of £70. Worse still, I wasn't the only one as jimcollins67 also paid for the same brakes using PayPal as a gift. So yeah, we don't have a leg to stand on.

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention this as a warning to others.

* I don't participate on the chat and bike forums as much as I'd like to because I'd rather read, learn from and enjoy what others have to say. As opposed to getting involved and talking total worthless cr@p!

I think he means what he would have to say, not what everyone else says.

I always check member history. If they've not got much (like your seller) then I give it a miss whatever the deal. If they are a classifieds only user then I tend to steer clear, too.

It's exactly this sort of attitude that makes this a forum I come on less and less

This guy is trying to warn other forum users and all you do is get the 4rse because of your lack of ability to read and understand what someone has written

Hi highclimber

No. Certainly not 'expecting sympathy'. I was merely telling you guys to practice a little more vidulance and less complacenctcy as i did so that you don't get ripped off as well.

Highclimber needs to get off High-horse, me-thinks. Obvious what Zappa was getting at despite being able to read it 2 ways.

Bum deal guys. Pays to check history and stuff and I know people have to start somewhere, but it pays to be on your guard, especially with Paypal Gift payments.

I've made a personal decision that the most money I can personally afford to lose in a sale like this is £30 so I won't PayPal gift for anything over that value any more.

Sorry to hear that you've lost your money though.

ken_shields Thank you.

Ken, It makes me wonder why I'm writting this when they can't even be bothered to read my post.

Guys, I am in no way looking for sympathy. i just wanted to let people on STW know that there are dishonest people among us. I am in correspondence with PayPay to ask them to investigate and close the account of the person who fraudulently took money from Jim and myself. I wanted to say take care guys.

highclimber, Please read my post and your reply. When you have, I think you (and others) might sum up why, over the past 10 years of being on STW, I have chosen to read, enjoy, appreciate and gain knowledge from other peoples posts.

Just don't use paypal gift - I'd rather pay the fees myself if I was buying something from a stranger. Paypal protection used to be pretty non-existent outside of eBay but I remember reading they changed it last year to offer the same level of protection outside of eBay .
