I'm looking at a SC Stigmata as my gravel / winter / bike packing bike. I won't use fork cages very often, and only for light things like a sleeping bag / sleeping mat.
Is anyone using a SC Stigmata for bike backing, have you used fork cages?
has it got direct mounting points on the fork for cages?
I have a 2021 Stig as a fast unloaded gravel bike. There aren't any fork mounts, at least on the current model.
just looked at a picture of a stigmata. that's going to be a hard fork to secure a cage on...
@jam-bo is that because the fork is straight and tapered? I'm talking once in a blue moon and to carry a sleeping bag that is sub 1kg
Why would you need to mount anything on the fork? You have seat, bar and frame bag options, all of which are better for carrying luggage.
If I'm going for a few days and need to carry tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, food, clothes, cooking gear, water bottles. An easy place to cary two light but bulky(ish) items: sleeping bag, sleeping mat, is on the fork.
Rivnuts 🤣
Nearly bought one of these from stif when they were half price earlier in the year. Gutted I didn't as they look awesome.
I’ve used mine for 3+ day trips - tent, bag, mat, stove, gear etc all fitted into bar roll, seat bag and frame bag. It has mounts for rear racks etc but not on fork. If you pack properly you should get it all on.
If you won’t use fork cages very often, why not just get an aftermarket one with bosses for those occasions?
Do like the stigmata, it’s probably the only SC in the current lineup I’d buy.
