How much rotational flex do you have in your frame?
I've been on a few rides on mine now and I started to notice quite a bit of sideways flex, as in pushing down on one end of the bars and pushing the seatpost the opposite way to make the head tube rotate relative to the seat tube. I'm sure its the frame thats flexing, i've tried a different stem and bars and its the same. I reckon I can get at least 5mm vertical movement on the end of the bars. ๐
I know the frame is very soft feeling, just wanted to make sure it was supposed to be able to flex like this!
Ive a life frame, I cant say Ive noticed anything like this, though Ive not been looking for it?
Well, if you remember can you give it a quick twist next time you're on it?!?
I'm pretty sure its because of the length and thin-ness (!) of the top tube and downtube meaning they're able to flex but just want to be sure!
i own a breath. i cant feel anything? i have a short (50mm) stem with wide bars.
mine feels stiff. sorry to be of no help. but i will check next ride
i may forget to reply so please email me in a week or two and i will let you know.
I can see it might be possible. They are as you say thin tubes. But thats what is needed to give better ride comfort. Ill be giving it a twist next time its out of the garage roof
No probs, cheers guys.
The easiest way I found to make it flex was while riding stood up, pushing the saddle one way with my thigh while also pushing down on the corresponding grip.
Just seems a bit wierd. It hasn't exploded yet though!
quick bump for any daytime interest....
Yep my life did that, that's the steel-is-real twang everyone goes on about. The Sandersons are definately at the 'steel' end of the spectrum, my 456 wouldnt flex anywhere near as much.
Aha, thanks for the reassurance! I asked because my inbred didnt seem to flex as much.
I like the feel of the frame, just wanted to make sure it was supposed to feel like that.
I've built it up for the IOM E2E later this year hoping that it would give a bit more comfort so I think it'll serve its purpose very well!
