So, I had my frame sandblasted to raw metal. Ultimately I wanted a raw metal (brushed alloy) look.
At the minute the frame is a very dull grey colour, almost looks like it has been painted grey. I assume this is because Sandblasting removes the natural shine of the metal?
So, what should I use to get it back to a metal looking finish? I don't want it 'see your own reflection' shiny. Just a simple brushed alloy look.
Did you actually use sand when you sand-blasted it? If so best get it checked out by a pro. Sand blasting an alloy can leave sand embedded in the metal. When the frame is painted the sand will react with the the alloy and rot the frame from the inside out.
yeah you don't really want to use sand/grit as it can take too much metal off if you are not careful.
Your surface is dull as it is all pitted. You will need to do lots of polishing to get rid - just experiment with the grade of wet 'n dry until you get the look you want and then give good clean with a degreaser and lacquer to protect from oxidation.
