Anyone live round this way that can suggest somewhere I can hire or borrow a bike for an evening? Only here till Saturday morning unfortunately so I'm hoping someone's local and feeling generous, the hills look amazing. I've got a car but busyness during office hours scuppers the usual hire/ scenarios.
Any help appreciated, I've got sunshine and hills but no bike, the exact opposite to Manchester!
My sis in law lives up the road in Danville (nothing decent bike wise at hers though). I'm pretty sure the shops in downtown Walnut Creek do hire as I wanted to rent a bike when I was out there a few years ago but ended up buying a Bianchi SASS SS instead as it was a bargain. If you manage to find a bike, head up to Mt Diablo, theres a few trails up there, they shut the park gates on the road reasonably early but you can still get in on a bike. Unlucky on the timing too as the Tour of California goes up Diablo either this sunday or early next week.
If your thinking of driving over the water to Marin Co. I can recommend Caesar's Cyclery in San Anselmo (v near Fairfax), I rented a Kona Satori 29er from them last week for a blast around the Tamarancho. They also do road bikes if that's what your after.
Always had good service, used them on four occasions now including multi days.
