Apparently there is camping available close by, free I think. Can anyone confirm this? and if we can camp there Friday night.

Also, is it a race? or timed pootle? After the blur of HOTS we're planning on taking in the sun soaked views.

Cheers.

It's a challenge against yourself not a race.
Not sure on the camping as I'll be heading to the hills for a bike bivi afterwards but will need to know about the car parking situation before hand.

Its classed as a challenge but some people think its a race because its timed, theres kids on the course so having a bit of common sense when trying to pass please. Lots of parking in staveley usually on the old cricket ground down back lane, camping wise they usually have a field up the kentmere road open for it but not sure about fri night, maybe ask on the Facebook page. Hopefully its gonna be another great day .see you all there.

I emailed the team regarding camping:

Hi Martin,

Thanks very much for your email, it's always good to hear that we're getting new people on board!

Yes, we have a field available for camping on both the Friday and Saturday nights. It's about a mile down the Kentmere road from Staveley, and we'll have event banners out so you'll know that you're in the right place. Facilities are basic (portaloos and water supply but no showers), but there's no charge for event entrants.

It's fairly informal, if you let us know that you're planning to camp we'll add you to the list but we don't mark out pitches or anything like that so you're free to just choose the best looking spot when you arrive. We definitely recommend Wilf's cafe in Staveley for post-ride (and post-party!) recovery breakfast!

Please let us know if you'd like us to save you a spot.

The Sam Houghton Challenge Team.
