Thinking of building one up to do a mix of back roads, smooth off road and singletrack and maybe some light touring. Suited to this?
Dave A's review for road.cc is spot-on, and I burbled happily away with my two-penn'orth in the comments also.
I stand by all that today, although I've now upgraded my wheels to Hope/Open Pros, which I wish I'd done sooner.

Thanks for that. I'm building from a frame up so spec will be my own. Does seem spot on for what I plan to use it for. ๐
Rode one for about 1 km...liked it. I really liked the odd wide, splayed and shallow drop Salsa bars it had on it.....they would be a must if I was building one up.
I ride a Fargo and there is a nice Vaya that gets serviced in my LBS which always looks nice when i see it.
Sounds perfect for what you want but if you want the ability to get a fatter tyre in for a bit more off road capability then the Fargo is also worth a look. There's a nearly new one for sale in the classifieds in a medium (with custom frame bag included as you mentioned touring).
Edit - That would appear to be your Fargo anyway so i guess you can ignore me!! ๐
It's ideally suited to this.
I built one up over Christmas for pretty much the riding you're describing and so far I'm really happy with it. Decent tyre clearance too.
Triton Cycles have 2012 frames cheap at the moment.
Thanks all. The bike will be run with on-one midge bars initially and is actually replacing a fargo ๐ the frame, forks and bag for that are for sale in the classifieds! Got the frame from Triton, well I have ordered it this morning ๐
