Anyone riding one? Thoughts?
Would want it for stuff like Gravel Dash, mixed road/ off-road, semi touring, off beaten track etc etc.

I'm sure there's an owner on a recent 650B+ thread.

Overkill & overweight for your purposes IMO, it's a loaded off road tourer IMO (having ridden a steel one)

Should last your insterstellar mileages tho!

Yes its a solid bike. Interstellar mileage would be good though - I might look at e-bike upgrade...
Would be nifty for heading out for dirty weekends.

I hear voices.

I have one - I had a steel one before it which Teetosugars now has.

I did the majority of my riding last year on it bar racing - I have a Spearfish for that. It's had many guises, ran it with a suspension fork out of interest, Jones bars, flats, drops and so on. Makes some of our trails in Hebden a bit more interesting, but I've rode it down most of the things round here without much issue.
I have the pre-Alternator version (but an El Mar. with Alternators) - the ability to set it up SS if it all goes wrong is something I'd like.
Makes a really stable, fast platform for descending, but you need to be flexible enough to get down on the drops and ride there all the time. Also, you need to be willing to learn to ride differently. Sorta like a Jones, but not. It's hard to explain.
I think the longest single ride I've done on it in one hit is the Wicklow way which is about 170km, similar to the West Highland Way - but with more granite and less fun.
I've ridden it as a touring bike in France and Cuba, it was fine and comfortable. It'll get raced down the Divide next summer - that was the plan for two weeks from now, but things happened.
It's the one bike I will never sell - you can have my carbon hardtail, Speafish, El Mar., CX bikes, Vantage - you will never take this one from me.

Al - If you think it's an off road tourer you're obviously not riding it properly.

Thanks GregMay - I ride road and cross a lot so getting down on the drops isn't a problem. Saw Charlie the Bikemonger's Fargo over the weekend and thought it might be a solution for a more stable ride than a full carbon cx our my awful handling Trek Portland.

I really do think they are one of the most versitile bikes out there.

Also have a look at the Van Desil WTF - Whisky Tango Foxtrot...maybe ๐Ÿ˜‰

As an aside - what was the Wicklow way like to ride?

Thinking it would be a nice long weekend inc a night on the town in Dublin. Foot passenger across on the ferry.

That's why Salsa list it as "BIKEPACKING / OFF-ROAD TOURING / SINGLETRACK" is it?

Of course it's an off road tourer, along with many other things (just like many big clearance stiff drop bar 29ers)

My point was the steel one at least is overkill for the OP's purposes, at 2.7kg for the frame was way too much weight for me to be lugging over gravel roads.

If anyone knows where there is a 2014 Ti medium please let me know. I adore my Bom Pop Blue 2014 steel medium Fargo. Ran SS all winter and now 1x10. Had a number of Ti bikes and they are a bit special, so one day will hopefully build a Ti Fargo with Rohloff even!

Well it's ok. Some sections are excellent, some are utter shite. Probably comparable to the Pennine Bridleway overall. But with some horrible sections that you will be walking down. Some really, really long fireroad climbs.
Otherwise, a nice ride. The southern section is boring, and if wet...horrible.
The northern section from Marley Park to the far side of Aughavanah is probably the best section. With 70% of the climbing in about 40% of the routes distance.
