Need a bit of advice my current bolted seat post clamp has 30.7mm etched into it (Seat post is 27.2mm), looking to replace it with a quick release type so bought a Salsa 30.6mm clamp, thinking the 0.1mm wouldn’t make a difference at worst may have needed a bit a lacquer removing.
Much to my surprise the Salsa clamp was much bigger than the original and rattled on the frame, even with the pinch bolt fully tightened the clamp does not exert enough pressure to hold the seat post securely
Does anyone know if Salsa clamps refer to the frame size/diameter at the top of the seat tube or the seat post size?
Cheers
They refer to the seat tube size.
Seat Tube.
On a Cannondale I had with a 27.2 post you needed a 32mm Salsa clamp. On the Soul the (very) same seatpost takes a 30mm Salsa clamp.
Thanks guys, I thought it was the seat tube size, looks as if I need to send it back and order another one.
