Welcome to the El Mar club. Did something happen in 2013 to make them suddenly more popular?

Yeah, two things:
The 2012 frames and bikes were being discounted nicely, which is very rare for salsa, so lots more around, more being seen.
The 2013 colours are easier to like, some of the older colours were a bit marmite.

Having said that I have never seen a salsa out in the hills (except ss races etc or ones I have sold, people I know) so they are at the nice point of not being common, whilst being easily available.

nice one! how are you getting on with those forks? manitou tower something?

charlie, since you're here, this is for you (frame is from you). have never ever seen another around here too (switzerland's rather a full suss-lovers-country ...)

That looks lovely too. Grubby ESI grips are a good match.

Manitou tower forks: I've been using the "pro" very happy, the comp felt weighty. Biggest problem for me is the distribution and pricing, but for you lot they are often dirt cheap, less than trade price. Get stuck in.

Salsa dropped 26ers from their range a few years ago.
IMO they have stopped being a regular bike company and now focus on specific objectives such as 24hr, offroad touring, snow racing etc. whilst the bikes are still bikes totally suitable for everyday riding. Dirt jumping is not one of their goals, and XC is faster on a 29, so no need for 26ers.
