A mate has gone all out with Cycliq lights/camera. Quality is excellent.

We now get a daily video of his near misses on his commute rather than a FB rant. If he's not posted by 11.30 we assume he's finally been hit.

I've not been that impressed by footage from Chilli Tech cameras, registration plate not always clear

TBH I'd look for something giving better image quality if I was buying again.

I've been tempted by one of these for any road riding I do...

True. Maybe safety is the wrong word but I just want to record and report shite driving when appropriate

Good point, but I do find that if I ride with my Exposure Link turned off on my helmet, I seem to get a bit more space and respect from drivers.

I would be interested to know the answer to this. If it's not a chilli bullet thingy, then what should we be using?

Since i started the thread it looks to be GoPro or don't bother. But I'd only want the black one which is more that what I wanted to pay. The Cycliq stuff looks good but all reviews say the GoPros quality is far superior.

Was initially put off by having to have it sat on top of handlebars but have since seen some Garmin/GoPro mounts which look a lot neater.

At least the GoPro will come is handy for other uses too I guess

Running in a decent res/frame rate meant my gopro (hero 5 vintage) battery life wasn’t brilliant - wouldn’t last a decent road ride! Would just about last a ride to and from work (hour and half total).

Now have cycliqs front and rear and battery life is much better (and they’re bit stealthy as they appear to be “just a light”).

Re Cycliq it was the fact that pretty much every review slams the mount that it comes with that put me off. Other than it looks OK.

Ref Mount - no issues from me but mine’s mounted to the underside of a garmin “out front mount”, not on the bars.

Same as TedC here, mounted on underside of an out front mount. No issues with battery life, images are decent, good (if expensive) bit of kit...

I used to run the early cyclic front an back but ended up mostly running the rear one as I was more interested in having footage if ever I was rear ended.

The cyclic works well as it’s also your rear light and you don’t have to mess about clearing the SD card down as it overwrites the earliest and the battery times a practical commute time.

I’ll probably go for a new rear one in the future as they’re less chunky.

Well in the end I went for a Akaso EK7000. Bit of a GoPro copy. Only £40. Loads of good reviews and tons of accessories

I’ve pondered that but between my experience of the 12 and reviews of the CE edition, it seems to be another case of significantly more money for some badly-implemented smartphone connectivity and less battery life. So I’ve stuck with my earlier model 6.

I guess they’re trying to serve the sort of customer who posts stuff to YouTube to have a rant after every ride they do, rather than the simpler use case of wanting access to evidence to support a prosecution and/or insurance claim in the case of an incident, where all you want is good battery life and decent image quality.
