Evening all,

Got a saddle sore, had it since tuesday. - don't need to tell you where, as you can probs guess that!

Anyway my GP checked it out, and prescribed me with the relevant antibiotics, they have certainly lowered the size and tenderness of the sore, but I just tried to go out training for a couple of hours and had to turn back after just a few miles! Still hurt...

Anyway, I'm racing Bristol Bike Fest at the weekend, and really need this to clear up ASAP. Any tips to get this shifted? Obviously I'll continue to take the antibiotics, and using antiseptic cream in said area.

Any help would be good!

Many thanks.

Lance it with a hot needle and give it a good squeeze, then lashings of surgical spirit

Only one thing for it. You need a healthy dose of GAGAMTFU. Beware though it is potent stuff.

pasted from a thread a month ago on the same subject:

Vodka and a needle.

Use the vodka as a joint anaesthetic and sterilising fluid. Then set about it with the needle and some proper hard squeezing.

Just as the coldest hour is just before the dawn, the pain is most excrutiating just before it bursts. May take 2 or 3 evacuations before it gets the message.

Once the discharge slows, pack it with Germoline or Savlon.

Disclaimer: this worked for me. Be prepared that it might not work for you, in which case you may need to see a doctor in which case may i advise that you don't tell him that a bloke on an internet forum told you to do it. And definitely don't give him my name.

Don't lance it yourself.

Put compeed on it (usually used to cover blisters), this will protect it. Smother liberaly with sudocrem for during the race. If it bursts mid race then MTFU and smother more sudocrem on it.

If it doesn't burst then let it go off in it's own time. Lancing it yourself is asking for trouble and a long term deep seated infection.

Thanks for the replies so far, should've mentioned that the 'top' of the sore actually came off yesterday. Horrible I know, but thought I'd mention it.

Sounds like it's getting better already. Leave it to do it's thing naturally.

Don't go howking around in it,
