[Closed] Saddle bolt torque setting ?

Just had the same issue. Creak,clikty click annoying annoying annoying :X

So tightened it by hand, using quite a short torx key-Park IB-2, so not a huge torque and problem solved.
I dont think i have overtightened it but if i have its slight and id rather not hear that bloody annoying noise.

If you dont fancy trying that look maybe to finding the heaviest grease you can, but in truth without going over the set torque it might just be something that is unavoidable.

Any idea what the torque should be ? thanks

Are you sure its the saddle rails/bolts

Try removing the seatpost and clean the post, the seat tube and the seat clamp, smear grease on the seat clamp bolt and nip the bolt up and see if the creak disapears

Also grease where the saddle rail mount to the front and back of the saddle

I had the exact same issue as you with a Brand X dropper and the above method cured the creaking

all I can think is I’m overtightening the seat clamp bolts, should these be around 10 Nm ?

Did you use a torque wrench ?

No idea, but ill run through with a torque wrench tomorrow find out roughly what ive done it up to. Note - dropper functions fine.

I haven't got a dropper but my seat post says 12nm on the clamp...

My torque wrench settings are tight, very tight, bastard tight.

Saddle bolts are very tight.

I’ve used carbon assembly paste on dropper posts for years, after I found the recommended 10nm clamp torque meant the dropper post would bind. 5-6nm is now plenty tight enough and no creaking

Thanks for the replies. I will try backing the bolts off to 8Nm. I'm using a torque wrench and have greased all the parts.
