No, when its real wet and slippery you don't want to be sliding around. I've seen DH racers use similar things on their saddles when its wet.

I have seen the odd DH rider zip tie old bits of tire on their saddles before for additional arse traction in the wet, seems like toss to me...

The only time I'd wished I had more traction there was when sitting on the floor of a plan.

As it banked to turn I began to think that sitting opposite the open door might not have been the smartest move I'd made that day.

It really felt like I was going to just slide out mid-turn.

Still, things got better once I was outside...

I've zip tied abit of tyre to my saddle once for racing (DH) but this was in extreme wet conditions. Make sense to design something to keep sponsored riders looking good but still with the benefit of the traditional bodge.
