Is it possible to change the oil in the damping unit of the rockshox pikes with the lowers installed?

As long as it hasn't leaked it's oil into the lower leg you can do it all from the top.

Tried doing it as had already put the lowers back on, the fork is now solid, why is this?

Should be 120ml according to Sram's oil level chart.

Why not take the lowers off? It only takes a 5mm allen key and you can then clean the inside of the lowers and dust seals / stick plenty of Red Rum on them.
