Thinking about replacing my worn Spesh BG Ridge's and saw the 2009 model cheap on CRC: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=30891.
Anybody used them at all? Worth a punt? How do they size up (particularly in relation to Spesh gloves)?
reviews look good on crc plus the web & cheap as sh1t price....win win.
I'm typing this with the Royal glove on my left hand and a Troy Lee XC on my right hand. Both XLs. Have previously had Spesh BG gloves with a big gel pad on the palm, also XLs
Royal feels a touch tighter everywhere apart from my little finger. It has some big seams on the inside that restrict movement of my fingers. They have a care label on the inside that is 4 inches long. It gets on my tits, but I don't want to cut it off in case if leaves a pointy scratchy nub .
The royal gloves are still in one piece. All the plastic bits are still stuck on. Prefer the Troy lees for comfort, but they only last me about 8 months before they fall to bits, hence thought I'd try something different. Wouldn't have another pair to be honest. I'm on my 3rd pair of TL's despite the fact they are delicate.
Top tip: If you cover you arm up with a sheet, and just look at the glove, it's a bit like someone else is doing it to you.
My Mum (75!) bought me a pair for my birthday, they seem well made with enough prootection to help if you have a biggie. Nice silicone stickies on the first 2 finger tips, breathable back and good length. The Spesh BG ones are a little short on the cuff and the pads about 5mm too low for me. Buy big, I do not have big hands and have the XL ones
