Staying with my parents just South of Andover for 6 weeks or so and looking for some route suggestions. There's a couple of bridleways on their doorstep which is fine for a morning blast but I may need some variety after a while.the only other place I've ridden round here is the woods near Micheldever.

Here are some links which are really useful:

Now, I'm not sure how far south of Andover you are but the best place for riding is north of Andover, the northern Test Valley. The trails hold up fairly well too.

South of Andover the problem tends to be that MXers use the trails. For example, at Goodworth Clatford you can pick up a bridleway that leads to Wherwell which is very pretty. You can use various bridleways, ie Chilbolton, Brockley Warren, Crawley, and these will lead to Farley Mount Country Park. There's also the Test Way linear trail which is useful for linking.

Have a look at those links and if you need any further info, do post up and I'll be happy to help.

Definitely worth getting the OS Explorer map number 131.

Thanks, I'm actually at Goodworth Clatford and was on the bridleway West of the Longstock Road this morning, very rutted by MXers that in the ruts I was getting pedal strikes every stroke!

Is the bridleway to Wherwell the one that runs down the side of the golf club?

Oh dear darn MXers! The bridleway runs alongside the river, past the sewage works, to the A3057. It continues opposite to the outskirts of Wherwell.

It's years since I've been along there so don't know what state it is in!

If you look at some of the routes in the links, you could park at Charlton Leisure Centre, West Portway Business Park, which is north of the town. That way it will give you easy access to many of the routes, or slightly adapting them.

Bear in mind there is Collingbourne Woods that has some rather fun single track but not to be attempted unless it's been dry for some time.
