Going up to Torridon for the coming weekend. Thought we'd stop around Aviemore on the Friday afternoon. Any suggestions for a fun route that would take a couple of hours? Imagine a red grading, so kinda fun/interesting - not some depressing death march to a steep hill I need to carry my bike down.

Centre or natural?

If centre, Laggan Wolftrax red(s) would give you that. The up is mostly fire road until the top bit. The downs are red with black options but at the tougher end of the red grading.

I'm sure the recommendations for High Burnside will be coming in but for something a bit milder and more red then the Badaguish trails were very enjoyable. Would be a fine afternoons riding. McTrail rider has a video.

Yeah, Badaguish is a good call. Extend it out to the trails above Glenmore Lodge too.

Have a go on that mental ‘pump’ track at Badaguish whilst you’re there.

We ended up going up to the Bagaduish trails - they were very good. Easy to find and very compact. Really enjoyed the mix of fast bits/roots/rocks - interesting technical bits as well as some fun!
Had been at Torridon the day before so was nice to get something a bit different and not as full on.

We also went up behind Rothiemurchus Lodge, pushed up some minging bog full of boulders but came down a great trail back to Loch Morlich. Will need to try it again as definitely the kind of trail you enjoy more once you know what's coming.
