would it be possible to run a rohloff on my surly disc trucker.
it has standard dropouts,

Absolutely, you'll just need to use the chain tensioner.

You'll need a Rohloff Speedbone and the corresponding axle plate, which look like this;

And the whole thing will end up looking like this;

Yes, other side you'll need the OEM2 plate and Speedbone or Monkeybone - in your pic I presume they're using the Monkeybone. Generally neater that way.

Would it be against the rules to say that I still do a STW subscriber discount? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Needless to say, you don't have to use a Rohloff tensioner.
Other tensioners are available at about 1/3 the price.
This is the Gusset tensioner on our tandem.

Oh yes, I forgot the Surly dropouts had a hole for the OEM2 plate - so you won't need the Monkeybone or Speedbone, just the OEM2 plate on the Rohloff.

And a tensioner.

Yup, do loads of them - over half the bikes I do are Rohloff bikes ๐Ÿ˜‰
