[Closed] Rohloff Oil group buy

Well, more a group sell actually.

I have bought a litre of each of the all seasons oil and cleaning oil.

This stuff is outrageously expensive, but is the only oil that maintains your warranty.

[img] [/img]

I have 3 Rohloff equipped bikes and this is more than enough for my needs.

To buy the cleaning oil from SJS Cycles is £17.49 inc. P&P.

I am willing to decant both oils into 10 pairs of 50ml screw top bottles at £8.50 posted second class in the UK, for those interested in saving some cash.

50ml is enough for at least 2 oil changes, which makes the true cost just £4.25 verses SJS price for oil for one change only.

And if you read the SJS website, it could be used for 4 oil changes:

Note #4 - Despite what may be written in the manuals, Rohloff aim to put about 20ml (on average) of oil into the factory-filled hubs, of this, around 12ml will “permanently” adhere to the numerous internal surfaces, so do not be surprised if you don’t actually manage to drain out much oil!
Rohloff have told me that, at oil change time, the ideal quantity to “re-fill” with is 15ml (they say 25ml in their current literature to make certain that the hubs receive at least 12ml) So if you feel confident that you can accurately measure 15ml, then you will be able to make savings.
Rohloff tell me that there is no advantage to using more oil than this indeed, you will simply make oil drips (through the breather) more numerous, and leaks through the seals more likely.

I'll need to buy the bottles and get the decanting done so please allow a week for me to get it to you.

I'm not out to make anything out of this other than cover my costs for buying the oil and have the benefit of using what's left over.

Please email me if you're interested. If you're not, then that's fine too. 🙂

Now then, one of you (and I can't tell which what with user names and emails bearing no correlation), hasn't sent me an email. I suspect it's flamejob.

Please email me so I can keep all of this organised.

SFB: I've ordered the bottles from EBay.

They're not dispenser bottles but then I figure most avid Rohloffers will have either the syringe or empty bottles. You get one bottle with the hub.

FYI, the new Black hub has come with a nice etched logo and serial number etc. instead of that dated blue sticker.

How do they identify the oil you use as "their oil" for warranty claims?

All sold!

As soon as the bottles arrive, I'll email everyone with PayPal details and get addresses from you. Hopefully I'll get them out before next weekend, depending on bottle delivery.

Thanks everyone.

720Peter,

Sorry, all 10 lots were taken up.

I may do another batch when my oil runs out in 5 years.
