Well, after a sketchy start I finally got the hang of a couple of the downhill runs on offer. Somewhat steeper, faster and more technical than what I am used to (we like it smooth in Essex and don't like too much of the pushing it back-up thing), however nothing that cannot be learnt with some determination, bravery and encouragement from some of the others there (many thanks to you, riding a demo, giant and sx). As my time progressed I carried more and more speed and also managed my biggest jump ever, a nice 12 foot double (it looked 12foot to me). Happy with that I was, so I did it three times.
I shall go back again for sure.
Where have you been riding downhill in Essex? Would be interested to know as I'm also an Essex boy and really want to have a go. Also, what tyres do you use to handle the awful Essex clay?
You would have to meet me as it's pretty difficult to describe how to get there. Essex clay requires either Maxxis Swampthings supertacky up front or a maxxis wet scream supertacky up front if it's really bad.
