I have a bike with a float x air shock on it (Mondraker Dune 2024) and it’s ok but I’ve fancied a Vivid Ultimate air shock for a while. I don’t think a coil would work for me on this bike with the progression curve of the rear suspension.
I’m currently working on getting the float x in a place where it doesn’t bottom when the suspension otherwise feels ok. Currently got about 185psi in it and a 0.6 fox token but still bottoming it easier than it should. Planning to up to a 0.8 spacer (which I believe is the biggest the shock can use in 205x65mm) and then perhaps raise the air pressure slightly higher.
Ive found a Vivid Ultimate air with a C30 compression tune and r25 rebound tune for a decent price. AI would suggest a 2025 Dune with Vivid base runs C34 and R23.
AI says it thinks this tune would be ok on the Dune - that there is enough adjustment to cope. I’m 78kg without riding kit / clothes so not wildly heavy. The shock has an HBO as well as hsc / lsc / rebound adjusters. Plus you can use volume spacers.
Anyone good with this stuff and could opine on the shocks suitability please?
