Anyone run a Rock Shox Reba RL 120 or 130 on a shortish travel FS bike - an Orange Four in particular?

Im looking to try and save weight over my current 130 Pikes.

Thanks

Yeah, why not? Perfect for a run of the mill trail bike imo. Its what id put on a 120mm full suss and what ive had on all of mine, granted id prefer the older dual air version. Currently got SID on one and pikes on the other - and if im honest, id rather a reba on both.

I used to run a 120mm Reba on my Camber Evo. Swapped them out for a Pike and won't go back soon. The Rebas are now on my xc ride. Fine for that and to be honest I thought they were fine on the full suss. Until I got the Pikes!

I have them on my Anthem. They're fine.

I've got a 120mm reba solo air on my Aeris120, Bird guys said it'd be fine, and it is. I wanted it to be a bit lighter and less enduro than a lot of builds you see for general trail bike duties (though I like the geo and length). It's under 30lb with pedals, no carbon and having given no thought to weight.

My old dual air 26" rebas were plusher, but these aren't bad.

Might go 130mm yari at some point, but only because I've got another xc bike now and it'd be cool to try.

I’ve got 100mm rebas on a cotic and 120mm on a canyon nerve, I like the simplicity of it, seems to work well and of course it’s very light ,

I do use it to it’s max though and I feel it’s at its limit at times, friends on the same trails with 130mm forks the red band is usually 10mm to spare , so I’d like to get a 130mm fork

ive looked a Yari forks £315 on start cycles using a 10% code but it’s nearly 1/2 kg heavier than the Reba,

think I’ll upgrade it one day, the pike will again add 200-250grams but they feel far beefier. The Revelation seems to be in the same ballpark too

Sometimes u can see the flex on the Reba at speed.. but it.ll do for now .

Its a bad do when the fork weighs more than my new frame and rear shock combined

Damping isn't going to be quite as good as the pikes.

I have some 120mm Reba's on my old Orange ST4 that I use for easy rides. I find them a great XC/trail fork but they're out their depth on real steep and rough stuff, just down to the damping.

I have bought some newer Revelations to replace them.

What's the difference between rebas and Revelations at say 130mm travel?

I don't think the Pikes are that much heavier but would be a fair bit stiffer and better damped.

Yaris a bit stiffer again, but heavier again and the damping won't b much better than the rebas if at all.

Pike makes more sense than a Yari on a short travel bike.

RockShox forks changed quite a bit in recent years - the Reba I biked was a 2013 model - not sure how the new ones are.

The 2013 model: didn't like this fork at all and wouldn't recommend to use this Reba on a full suspension bike. The fork is reliable but the performance was bad. For XC biking maybe o.k. - but for a bit rougher trail riding not (2013 Reba RL).

I've run a solo air Reba on my short travel full sus (120mm Specialized Camber 26er) for a good few years. Its fine for XC and easier trails but gets out of its depth on choppier stuff. IMO the damping is quite poor, there is a lot of seal stiction and it has this really annoying trait where it will randomly feel stiff and wooden, requiring all the air to be let out and the fork cycled a few times through its travel then reinflated.

I've recently bought an Anthem with a Fox 34 with Fit4 damper and that is a much more capable bike on rough stuff.

Weight difference between a Reba and Pike within the last couple of years is gonna be less than 100g. Seems like it should be the last place to chase grams.
