what oil do people use, I know its got its own stuff but whats the mainstream alternative.

2 reasons

1 im skint and a tight arse and I can order oil cheap as I am in the motor trade.

2 I dont believe in the mountain bike specific price tag

Bike fork oil. I think Motul is pretty good.

Been using motor bike for oil for home servicing. Not had any problems at all, just use the correct wt

Yep, for forks it's just fine to use generic stuff. Correct wt is a must.
