So, in the market for an air shock for my SC Nomad - currently have a DHX Coil, but I have a very XC holiday coming up so i'm on a weight drive.

Was going to get a Fox Float, but having investigated they appear to cost a fortune, so i'm reluctant to splash the cash in these credit crunch times...

So anyone used a RS Monarch, Bikeradar reckon it's good, but I'm concerned it may not be reliable - not what I need in the outer hebrdies...

So is it cack?

I've got one (165x38mm). Best shock I've ever had. no problems so far.

Only ridden one for about 10mins, it felt ok, but nothing more. However, I did ask TF why he didn't sell them anymore -- he wasn't too complimentary.

I'd leave the coil on the Nomad and save weight elsewhere.
You're picking the wrong bike to send on a crash diet, MTFU and ride it as it is! ๐Ÿ˜‰

twohats - I am losing weight else where... it currently weighs about 36lb. Want to get that down to about 30-31 lb. I've got 500 quid and a pair of XT cranks to throw at the problem. I don't weigh much, and don't really 'go large' very often - air shock seems like a easy win.
