[#2087670]

Just serviced my lyriks and put the soft spring that I got when I bought my forks second hand

They came in an unopened packet and it said soft spring on the packet, but there was definitely red paint on there

I'm about 11.5 stone and I am getting about half the travel on the stanchions when I took them out yesterday

Is this right, or do I need a different spring?

red = Standard for 160-180lbs

yellow for 140-160lbs

white for under 140lbs

There are quite a few articles on MTBR saying that those weight ranges are somewhat off and some people are using std spring up to 220lbs with the wastegate removal modification.

can't work out if mine is a soft or standard though

it deffo said soft on the packet, but the traces of red threw me

reckon I should try and get a yellow?

Don't know if it helps but I run an extra soft spring on my 170mm Lyriks - I'm 8 1/2 stone - never bottomed my forks (tho' that's probably due more to my mincing than the spring rate ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) - tend to use 1/2 to 3/4 travel most rides.

Yeah well, they don't make Revs in 170mm yet do they? ๐Ÿ˜‰

i fitted the "correct for my weight" firm spring in my Lyriks and found i was never getting all the travel. I ended up putting the "as it came in the box" medium spring back in and they have been much better. No bottoming out even in the Alps.

So don't hesitate to try a softer spring if thats what you feel you need.
