er, i've been hitting the mulled wine hard over the last few day, and i think all the nutmeg has affected me...

i recently bought a pair 130mm solo air recons, and very good they are too.

long term they'll either stay on my hemlock, or go on the inbred.

i've got a pair of tired old pikes stood doing nowt right now - but a friend has offered to buy the crown/stanchions to replace his.

could i put the pike lowers on the end of my new recons? - giving me a pair of air-light sensible-travel maxle-stiff forks?

does anyone know if this can be done? - or should i go and have a lie down?

It might work. They should fit, but you'll only get 130mm out of them, not 140, if they do.

I'm trying to think of what could go wrong......

different bush sizes perhaps, making them tight or wobbly.

If it was me, I'd give it a go too.

Just e-mail the guys at Fisher and ask them, it's all I did when I wanted to swap over the lowers/stantions on some toras. I got a speedy reply with all the info I needed.

I don't think so, but check with the boys at Fishers, as Carl says.

There are plenty of frankenforks over on MTBR
I think some guy mixed fox 32's with pikes to get fox internals and maxle lowers

It definitely worked in some capacity from memory

If the lowers are the same length and the bushes are okay, why not indeed.

My wifes Fox 32 Vanilla R's are franken forks also; 2006 uppers/damper unit/spring assembly in 2007 lowers.

The two fork lowers were the same length and they havee been working fine for over a year now.

As Peter said, you won't get 140mm travel, thats governed by the spring assembly length.

Personally I'd ressurrect the Pikes. What is wrong with them? After my experiences of secondhand Lyriks I may be of assistance ๐Ÿ˜€
