Anyone got any real world experience of these?

They look the part but just how robust are they, would they protect against a reasonable impact or is it really just to protect the downtube from the odd chuckie/ stone coming up?

supposed to be pretty good by all accounts.
Will have one on the Capra soon as they are making them now after I enquired and no one had the latest version in a small.
An offer of fuel covered and a cuppa solved that 8)

pretty sure it's saved my carbon frame, judging from the state of the guard after a year!

One strike looks to have been a particularly fast, large, spiky bit of peak district

Mine has got about 3 spider web type hits on it from big lumps of Welsh slate smashing into it.

I wasn't overly convinced it was that strong, I could see daylight through the weave in some areas of mine if it was held up to the light. It appears to have held together ok (and covers a couple of nasty scars on my al frame in that area)

I looked at getting on of these for my nomad bud decided against it after reading a review saying that because of how hard the carbon is they can end up just transferring the energy of hit into the frame and not dissipating it. The reviewer still recommended them but said that he put a thin layer of foam between his and the frame to help over come this.
I don't know how true the above is and its not the reason I didn't get one. In the end I forgot about getting one and after seeing the built in guard on the frame and having had a few heavy strikes with no damage I have given up caring.

Didn't save Kevins S Works Stumpjumper in the Alps, didn't bother putting it back on the new frame.

I had one for over a year on my whyte with no big issues...

Easy to fit with hot water and a bucket.. only small criticism is that as it's not glued on like many OEM guards, mud tends to get between the guard and the frame which is tricky to clean out an day damage paintwork with time.

Not very good on my Rune. There is a 5mm gap between guard and frame. Loads of mud and grit gets between. Preempting that this would cause paint damage, I heli taped that area and have prevented any scratches. I also had to drill holes in it for the bottle bosses.
I'm sure it will protect against rock strikes though.

Had one on my old Mach6 down tube for over a year, judging from some of the indents and scratches on it it seemed to do its job.

Had mine for a year or so now, clips on and off for cleaning. I brought it to cover a stone hole that happened prior to installation.
It's on a giant anthem 29er. If I lost it I would get another one.

stoddys experience is exactly mine. Really good buy, has a few really sharp marks on it that I wouldn't fancy on the frame.

And 2 bolts to pop off for cleaning. Easy.

Another happy customer.

Does still leave the BB shell exposed, not an issue on an alu frame, but have seen some nasty whacks that I'd be upset about if it was a carbon frame.

Anyone know if the rockguardz norco sight one fits the carbon version of the frame too?

My Sight 7.2 didn't come with a frame protector.
